"ubusuna" comes from the ancient word, which means "land of birth" or "local deity." At the heart of ubusuna is a love for the unique qualities of the land. We've blended traditional Japanese beauty, shown through natural materials and the "wabi-sabi" aesthetic, with contemporary designs. We want to make clothes that people will love and wear for a long time. Our clothes are made one by one with a lot of time and effort, just like the land of origin that everyone cherishes. Our clothes are made with attention to detail, and they have a class and elegance that makes the wearer stand out from the crowd. Japanese clothes are born in Kumamoto, a place that loves its indigenous culture and has Japan's top-class traditional technology. We hope you will experience it for yourself.
IZA," the origin of 'ubusuna,' is a formal line that pursues 'Japanese clothes that can be loved for a long time.' By combining the traditional Japanese beauty of "koryu," which expresses wabi and sabi, with modern styles and global designs, we have created new "Japanese clothes".
The designs are also defined by the texture, luster, and nuance of the materials used to enhance the beauty of the garments. The clothes are made to make the wearer look and feel their best. The unique designs, inspired by the "straight arc pattern" of the Kumamoto Idera burial mound, sublimates indigenous elements into sophisticated accents.
The "SUSA" collection built on the ideas of "IZA" and created a style that was both casual and elegant. The "Learning from the past" aesthetic is the foundation of this collection. Monogram prints and camouflage were inspired by the straight arc pattern found in ancient tombs, while gentle color schemes draw from the climate of Aso.
While IZA is based on materials,"SUSA" starts from the perspective “that is not here right now". We will continue to expand the world view of "ubusuna" by taking on the challenge of textile production.
